This bundle includes 4 sets of sorting cards: shapes, vehicles, leaves, and snowflakes. Each set can be sorted in two ways: by color and by shape/type. For example, the vehicles can be sorted by color (red, blue, yellow) and by the type of vehicle (car, truck, bicycle). Sorting the same set of cards by different criteria supports mental flexibility and executive functioning.
This movable alphabet exercise includes 8 short vowel words that can be changed to long vowel words by adding an 'e' at the end. For example, changing 'pin' to 'pine'.

The schwa is the most common vowel sound in English, and it is one of the hardest for children to read and spell because it can be represented by all of the vowel letters. This bundle provides children with practice sorting words with the most common spellings of the schwa sound. This corresponds to Set 2.5 in the Integrated Montessori CKLA Scope and Sequence.
This Individual Code Chart from Core Knowledge shows all of the spelling patterns for each of the sounds in English. The gray bar, or "power bar" under each spelling pattern represents the frequency of that spelling pattern. This is a powerful tool to support children's writing.

Tricky spellings are spelling patterns that can have more than one pronunciation. For example, the letter s at the end of a word can be pronounced /s/ or /z/. This bundle includes sorting activities for the following tricky spelling patterns:
-s can be pronounced as /s/ or /z/
oo can be pronounced as in moon or look
-ed can be pronounced /ed/, /d/, /t/

The vowel digraph oo can be pronounced as it is in moon or as it is in look. This bundle includes a set of picture cards for each pronunciation and a sorting activity where children sort words based on the sound of the oo.
This bundle includes cards for the movable alphabet with these long vowel spellings: ee, a_e, i_e, o_e, u_e
There are 6 pictures for each spelling pattern (except u_e, which has 5) plus 8 words/pictures to practice changing short vowels to long vowels by adding an 'e' to the end of the word (ex: pin--> pine). These spelling patterns are taught in Kindergarten Unit 10 of the CKLA literacy curriculum.
These 14 sets of cards help children to read and spell the following sounds: long /oo/ as in moon, short /oo/ as in look, /ou/ as in shout and cow, /oi/ as in oil and boy, and /aw/ as in paw, pause, caught, and talk.
Note: Neither 'oo' sound is technically a diphthong, but these sounds are often taught together.

In this work, children match the words with their definition and a sentence. Blank cards are included so that children may add new words as they find them in their reading. These words are different than those in the CKLA workbook so that children have additional practice opportunities. As an extension, you may consider having children write additional sentences for each word.
These editing checklists support students in independently editing their own and others' writing. The checklists are based on the Common Core Language Standards for each grade level, kindergarten through 6th grade.

These fraction tasks support children in applying their knowledge of fractions to rigorous tasks aligned to the Common Core Standards. The cards cover all of the fraction standards from 3rd through 6th grade and are ordered by level of complexity and abstraction, thus honoring the spiral nature of the Montessori curriculum while meeting the requirements of the CCSS.
