Welcome to the Upper Elementary CKLA/Montessori Guide.

As you know, teaching the CKLA curriculum as it is written simply isn't possible in a multiage classroom.

Therefore, the goal of this guide is to take apart the strands of the CKLA curriculum, so that you may weave them back together in a way that makes sense for your context.

How teachers choose to weave the strands back together will look different in every school, so our resources are designed to maximize flexibility.

There are three sections of this guide that correspond to the three strands in the CKLA curriculum: reading comprehension, writing, and grammar/language.

Each section contains resources and a video explaining how to use the resources.
